C.O. dinner @ OCA 2016 nationals

I have been eyeballing the Cheddars in Kingsport about 3.5 miles away from the show field.

Before I do a reservation for the group. I wanted to know if we have any protest to this venue?

Date and time is as usual Thursday @ 7:00 PM.

Pat, you can definately count Patton and I in, and possibly two others. Do they have a seperate area big enough for the head count we had last year?

TTT. Anyways I am going to lock it in this weekend! Don't where I am going to find the time with homecoming, wife's B-day and fathers day.

We are at the mid teens so far. Last year we had commitments for mid twenties and 43 overall with significant others showed. No problem the more the merrier Oldsmobile (freudian slip) I would like to get fairly close this year. So if you are planning on it, please speak up one week before the show or July the 12th.

I am going to kick Dave's (davebw31) chair, he wonderful stories about his days in plant 1. Last year.

You can use the list or: e-mail 1970cs45@gmail.com
phone or text 517-582-0404

Cheddars address 2004 N. Eastman rd. Kingsport TN 37664

I will be there again with my best friend, so add two (2) to the list for sure. Also, possibly with a few others. I'll call them and confirm how many before the deadline.

Look forward to seeing you all!

Patton needs to MC and someone needs to get name tags, marker, etc. I will help donate $$ to cover some cost.

Pat: is there a separate room at this restaurant to possibly fit everyone?

Hi Dave,

I have contacted the facility, not exactly what we wanted! No reservations, but they will give us an entire area. No separate room I have to call them two-three hours prior so they can put tables together and give us a couple of the wait staff dedicated. The good news is there is no threat of meeting a minimum dollar figure and automatic added tip to the bill.

Yes! We are also going to sing kumbaya and eat some smores! (Nicholas Cage, gone in sixty seconds)

On the name tags, I will locate some and markers. Shall we put our handle and given name also? Of that would be ditto for a few.

Pat

Pat - I have plenty of blank "Hello...My Name Is: " left over from last year so no need to get more (I'll watch the count on this thread to make sure I have enough and will get more if needed). Got the marker.

Soon - I'll post on this thread and get names and pre-fill out as many name tags as possible so it'll save time at the dinner.

Thanks

I still think we need to find a restaurant with a room we can use separate from the main dinning room. Just a suggestion..........

If we still go with this restaurant then I would request an area in a corner or along a wall of the restaurant, so we are not spread out!

If we get a list together of the confirmed attendees, I'll print up some nametags for those who want to provide the info. I would format like:

Name : Joe Munoz
CO Handle : Costpenn
Home town: Carrollton Texas
Car At Show: 1968 Hurst Olds

I will try to contact Cheddars manager and request a corner a day before.
Cheddars is highly ranked on trip advisor for that area.

I like everyones ideas, keep them coming!

Patton: are you MCing this year? You seemed to enjoy it last year!

Then what the hell am I supposed to do with this stack of "Hello, My Name Is..." tags?????? They won't work for stickers to put on restoration work I do (tried that and the customer got mad)......gotta use them up.

I'll probably get up front and yell and scream some stuff at the beginning. I thought the drum circle idea might be a good ice breaker.

Dave Bunch probably had long hair and wore beads and tie die shirts back in the day.....I nominate him to lead the drum circle and do the first beatnik poetry reading.

Patton: Olds Div. had a dress code IE White shirt, Dark pants With or without cuff, Any color tie (no naked women or political designs), black or dark brown belt, black or dark brown shoes, white or dark socks, no beards (could have a mustache), AND SHORT HAIR!

I had to wait to get to my age to do the tie-dye, beads, and long hair thing! LOL

My wife and I would love to have dinner with everyone if it's not to late to get in on it.. We are meeting a friend of mine and his girlfriend down there so they may want to attend too. Let me know if it's too late to join.

Ok Andy,

We rolling out @4:00 AM! Should make it with breaks, fuel ups and lunch around 3:30 PM. We are bringing my daily, boy thinks he is taking his 12 year old higher mileage car. Sorry with only having the car 90 days and no long trips. Not to be trusted as yet.

Mine is still under factory warranty with towing.

Another thought if I may. I would like to attend the meet & greet dinner but I'm usually with a large group and it's hard to round them up @ a certain time. That being said, how about another time and place to meet @ the host hotel because I would like very much to put some faces with some very bad posts. I don't mean a eating type meet and greet but just a place to gather up and talk. If anybody else is interested in such a thing,I will see if they have a room we can use for a little while. Not trying to rain on the dinner deal, just the opposite and for those of use who can't be there for various reasons,it would an additional time for all of us to meet. Just a thought, anybody?

Yes and it can be anytime, not just after the dinner. Joe Donnelly and I dropped in on the dinner @ Cincinnati ya'lll had just to meet everybody. It was a quick deal and didn't really get to know anybody,so I thought this might be an alternative. Sometimes there's 20 or so of us going to eat and I didn't want to blow up the dinner.
