Buyer Beware, Jetfire on eBay

Just a heads up to everyone. I had a deal worked out with this guy to go pick this car up. Had a price settled and all. I was trying to go pick it up Saturday morning but told him it could be next Saturday. He said he had a title and the engine runs. Now he will not return my messages and posted it on eBay. On eBay he says he has no title and the transmission is not in it. I would assume it will not start and run now like he said it did. I guess it could start and run still with no transmission in it but I wanted to hear it run when I got there. Personally, I hope it sells for far less than I was going to pay now. He will also not post a picture of the engine numbers so who knows if it is even a Jetfire engine. I was going to bid on the car but I have decided to just let it go. I sure hope if someone buys it they get it cheap and at least much cheaper than I was going to pay him.

He may have figured he was selling it too cheap and decided to float it on eBay beings he now has an extra week to sit on it. Don't be surprised if his winning bidder "falls through" if it closes for less than you agreed to pay in which case you can expect a call from him asking when you will be coming to get it.

looks pretty crusty too, being from Ohio frame rust could rear up and be considerable along with floor and trunk braces....

I expect he will run the bid up on it and be stuck with it. The car is not worth much and even less now that it don't have a title like he told me it does. If he messages me again and expects me to pay our former agreed price he can jump. My price will now be 50% less than before if he want to sell it to me.

Good thing you decided to wait a week... You could have been making a very disappointing trip... Doesn't sound like someone I would want to do business with even if he lowered his price...

I also look at it as if maybe God had other plans. My wife needs my attention now and I am crazy tired from taking care of her. Maybe it was best I didn't make the 10 hour round trip drive with as tired as I have been.

It looks like a good parts car .
But nothing I would want to try to restore .
It's bid to $1750 right now , Which I believe is top dollar .
Anything more would be foolish , In my humble opinion .

Looks like he got $2150 for the car.
Hard to say if the bidder won't back out.

I am almost sure the last two bidders are fake bids. I could be wrong bit I think the last real bid was $1725. About 3 minutes before auction was over I told him when the sale falls through I would give him $1500. He said no thanks. I then told him he should have taken the $3000 I offered before he decided to put it on eBay. I didn't really want the car but I was trying to help out another Jetfire owner that needed a Jetfire engine and turbo system. I would not have made much on the deal. The guy needing the engine is across the pond and can't buy the entire car. He never did get a picture of the engine numbers to prove the engine had not been replaced anyway so I am out of it.

LOL! He just contacted me. Here is his quote. “So what will you pay.but no to 1500” I knew good and well the last two bidders were fake. I suspect the last three bidders were fake.

Make him an offer or tell him to go with the last few bidders.

He only said no to "1500". Offer him 1000, he hasn't declined that yet.

Pretty sleazy practices there.

He changed his tune a little. Now he is willing to send more pictures. He sent me a picture of the engine numbers. The last bid that I believe was a real bid was $1350 but it could have been $1725. I may offer the $1725 but I am more thinking about just letting it rot. Undecided but he will not likely take the $1750 either. With no title that I can use I am not giving him any more than that. If I can get it for that and I decide to, I will just pull the engine and make a better deal on it for the guy looking for one.

Unless you just have to have it for one reason or another, wait him out. I doubt people are lining up to take it off his hands. Offer $1550 and go silent for a few days.

I told him since I can't here it run like he said I could and since he does not have a title like he said it did that I would give him $1700 and not a penny more. He said no. I told him to let me know when he is tired of sitting on it. Even then I am not sure I really want to. Just have to wait and see. At least I know it has a real Jetfire engine in it now.

Walk away. And if you can't do that...run!

Go with your original idea when you said "I am out of it." This has problems written all over it.

LOL, Now for the rest of the story..... I knew full well this car was not going to sell from the first day he listed it on eBay. He had me mad from the beginning and decided to hustle the crap out of him. I have had 4 friends contact him over the last few months asking about the car and acting like they were interested. When they talked money I had all of them low ball him and pester him and even had a couple tell him he was simply to high on the price for having title issues and not able to her it run. All of them were mostly telling him the same thing. A guy I know in Minnesota that I work with regularly on projects for work went to the point of telling him he was headed out to buy the car and never showed up, lol. After that, I called him from my work phone so he did not happen to recognize who I was from before. I told him a friend told me about the car and was interested in it. This time he was very kind to me and told me about the title issues and I felt he was at least telling the truth this time. I told him I could not pay what he was asking but was for sure interested in the car. We agreed on $1900 and I was really hopping to get him down more when I got there. Well, the virus happened and delayed my trip a few weeks. He was pestering me to come get it for the past three weeks.

Today I went to get it. As soon as I got there I said that the body was far rougher than I expected. I knew it was going to be junk from the beginning but again, I was going to finish what I started. We looked it over more and pointed out a couple things that were missing that I already knew from the pictures, lol. My goal was to get it for $1500 but before I could make an offer he just popped off, give me $1500 for it and call it a day. HAHAHA!

Moral of the story, Don't **** me off... It rarely happens but now and then I find just that right person.... Shame on me
