Brakes

Hey guys i've got a problem got a 69 442 and I've got very little brakes what little I do have seems to be from the rear pedal goes to the floor and have to pump pedal twice to to get that Ive changed the Master cylinder and the front calipers and still got the same problem(rear brakes are ajusted properly) I do have a metering valve off the front port and also a pressure differential valve on the frame. Back up. Do you have front discs or drums? When you say metering valve, do you mean the stock style for 67-70 that mounts under the M/C? When you say "pressure differential valve on the frame" do you mean a distribution block or a combination valve?

Thanks foe responding It has front disc brakes. I has a small round valce mounted on booster next to MC The valve on the frame must be a disstribution pressure switch combo. Its got a wire going to middle of for the brake light

Have to ask the obvious, but did you bench bleed the MC before installing and then bleed all 4 wheels?

Guy,

Does the block on the frame look like this:

Or like this:

The first one is the correct distribution block to go with your metering valve. If that's what you have, your parts are correct. You just still have air in the system and need to keep bleeding.

The second one is a combo valve that should not be used with the metering valve.

Did you change the front calipers and are the bleeders on the top of them, not facing downward? If they are facing down they're on the wrong sides and you'll never get the air out of the system.

Brakes

Its been awhile since I posted my problem, but I want to give everyone an update. What I found to be the problem was the HOLDBACK VALVE it was the only thing I did not look at. Its mounted on the Brake booster next to the M C. I changed it out and the problem was gone. I don't quite understand why it would cause me to not have front brakes AND NO PEDAL but it did. I want to thank Joe and WTony for the advice.
Thanks
Guy
