Bon Voyage
Bon Voyage
On my way to pick my son up from soccer yesterday I drove past this in my neighborhood. A 69' 442 automatic column shift with bucket seats. Car looked real nice. Sounded great too. They were loading it on a trailer. Seller told me he sold it on ebay and it was on its way to Paris.
Get this, final bid 17-5. I couldn't believe it. Yes it was numbers matching and, to the quick eye, looked like a #2, #3 car. I would have guessed it should have went for closer to 30K. The one thing I did find odd where the 68' doors on the car. So I have a question, possibly for Joe if he happens to read this, did 69's ever come with fly windows? If memory serves me correct, I remember all "A" body GM cars discontinuing fly windows for the 69' models.
Good thing he sold it before I caught it or I'd need a lot more $$$ for attorney fees when I came home with it and my wife threw me out.
PS Coach wasn't happy when I was 25 min late to pick up my son. Use to be women I couldn't pass up now it's cars.

There is nothing wrong with the doors, except that the lower body line looks pretty wavy,it's a post coupe so it came with the vent windows. The posts used them all the way to the end of the body style in '72
The interior looked real nice but I didn't crawl through it since it was already sold. The 2 gents selling it did get a little taken back by the "kid in the candy store" enthusiasm i approached them with. Once they realized I was an Olds nut (straight jacket degree) they opened up. One of them had a 72 conv't, in nice shape, in the garage and a 71' S in the driveway. The gent that sold it had a cherry Nova I believe 71'. Not a bow tie man so I can't understand that switch. You never know what's sitting right under your nose. Told them about this site hopefully they sign on.
The wheels are wrong anyways, snap on center caps did not show up till 1975. Good luck finding the correct 69 wheels in Paris. Still not a bad looking car and one that will be very unusual in Paris.
