Bolt guide reference

I am in the process of restoring a 65 442 motor and was wondering if anyone knows of a guide that documents bolt types, manufacturers, materials used, etc. I've noted various letters, patterns, etc. on bolt heads and some appear either parkerized or made of different materials depending on application.

I've searched around the web without much success.

Thanks in advance!

GM made standard hardware specific books in the 60's and 70's, you can probably get one on ebay. Your best option is the assembly manual and the AMK catalog. You can pull it down online. Cross ref the #'s from GM to AMK.

Yes, the AM has a full Bill of Materials, specifying all (I think all, anyway) engine fasteners.

It does not specify manufacturers and markings, though.

AMK has a very good selection of accurate fasteners, including pre-made sets, but they are not cheap.

that GM catalog, is the hardest, most rare catalog ive ever searched for...

some of it is usually in a master parts illustrated manual, and over 3 decades have yet to find a complete..and believe me i search hard and wide...i have customers that request that section all the time, and the dealerships must have just pitched them..cuz i just cant find them

The general parts manuals do have listings for many fasteners, hoses, bulbs, I think at the end of section 8 or 9. You use the assembly or illustrated manual for the number and then search AMK. AMK will usually say the marking, finish, grade, etc. I have to look around for you Mark! I know I have a few of those Standard catalogs, I have one at my desk, and some buried in stacks of catalogs I have here.
