assembly manual bolt ID reference!
assembly manual bolt ID reference!
I have finally purchased a copy of the assembly that has all the pages. The parts place sold me one that after looking at wild about cars....it was the exact same ****. OPG sent me a great cd version and am happy. enough of the complaining. One thing that I have yet to find and would greatly appreciate is a 'bolt id number / reference actual size' chart or something. you all have been great on your insight and guidance and want to say thanks ahead of answer.
My wife buys water in a bottle, when you can get the same thing for (essentially) free by turning the handle on the faucet (Poland Spring - same water we get out of the tap).
If you're waving money around, they're more than happy to relieve you of it.
As for Bolt IDs, by typing "bolt id size reference chart" into Google, I found this within the first ten results.
If you really want to get into it, then this, from two results down on the list, may be more to your liking.

nope
I am looking to find a way of knowing what exact bolt they are referencing to as to the number listed in the assembly manual to a cross of what it actually is to a specification description or clear pictures
Unfortunately, the CSM and AM do not tell you any of this. They simply list the part number. Most of the screws/nuts/bolts are listed in the GM Parts Catalogue.
BTW, nice looking 69! Even though you're identifying it as a recreation or clone, I'm sure it'll be a real head turner when it's finally on the road. Not many of the new generation really know anything about these cars other than they look cool and shiny.

I have sort of a small version of that
back yrs ago I started a bolt ID guide Excel sheet. I had developed a cleaning machine to degrease and derust many pails of fasteners. Mostly engine bolts.
I got to diameter, length, and special features such as non-std wrench size, and maybe some detail on the head markings found on intake manifold bolts, but not exact head markings on every fastener. Is that what you meant? For many of the fasteners I was able to attain the GM PN thru the AM or PN Manual. Finding the bolt by PN is not that viable these days unless you find the Dealer Stash, but you may be able to go the other way, and in knowing what PN was used, find what exact size that is, what features- e.g. valve cover bolts have a smooth flanged hex drive head with a slight recess in the head and smaller than usual [for 1/4" bolts] wrench size of 3/8".
Photos were not so easy then either and they cause the Excel sheet to grow to immense size, so not much for illustrations. Maybe it can be made into a pdf or something nowadays.
