When I was growing up in Chicago there was a guy in the neighborhood that had a 64 Impala SS he had a accident that wasted the frt. end (no frame damage) he was a pretty skilled guy, when he went looking for a frt, clip for a 64 he could not find one, he did however find a frt. clip for a 63 Impala SS so he bought and used that. Now I know that it's not a night and day difference between the 63 and 64 but they are different.
the side body lines matched up perfect, he repainted the whole car and to the casual untrained observer or non car buff it would be unnoticed but if you were a Chevy guy you noticed immediately there was something unique about this car it was very cool !!!

I would like to see more of this car. It looks pretty cool I think at least from those small pics. I wonder if they did the contrasting paint on the rear quarters to draw a way from maybe different wheel opening styles- front to rear?? Anyway it would be a fun car to own for awhile... I think I would probably get tired of explaining it to strangers after the 467th time or so.

Cross breeding was very common in the 50's. I had a friend that had a 56 Chev convert that was in a crunch on the front end. Frame wasn't damaged so he put a 55 front end on the 56 and unless you knew Chevys, you would not know the difference.

For several years, there has been a mashup running around Butler, PA that is a Pontiac front clip on a 1970 Cutlass Supreme convertible body -- all on a jacked up 4x4 chassis. (I tried to attach a photo, but it won't show up here.)

I have been a car buff forever. I remember a time probably in the late 50's I saw a Pontiac that was probably about a 1950 model that had a Cadillac rear clip on it and it has a 56 Olds engine in it. It was black and very well done.
