Batch codes 70 W-30.

Trying to figure out which one I need for My W. I am running a 7040257 for the time being but before I take a loan out
for a 7040258 I need to find the correct date batch #. Would it be the 2659 2809 or the 2939? Thanks for the help on this one guys.

What is the next one after 2939? 2939 is a little early still but not sure what the next one was. 2939 would still be acceptable to most any judge or evaluation.

Eric, these are just the date codes of batches I have found doing research. I don't know if there is another batch beside these to choose from.

More research shows date codes 3329 and0920 also. All should have the RK stamp on them as well.

If 0160 is a good date, that would be the most likely. I don't think anyone would have a problem with one a little earlier than that but these dates were never all that far off. Obviously when made in batches they could be farther off than a common 350 or 455 carburetor but still would not be terribly far back. I have watched date codes closely since around 2014 on known original parts to cars. They are rarely more than 3 weeks earlier than the cowl tag date and often the same time as the cowl tag. I have even seen some exhaust manifolds that had a few days newer than the cowl tag date and were original.

I hope to be making a post dedicated to this subject later this year that I think will be educational to all of us.

The W-30 carburetors were built in batches so there are only a few date codes on them. Same with H and F heads. There are only a few date codes for them.

Thanks Mike. It was repainted Burnished Gold before I bought it, but there are traces of the Sherwood Green in places.

Beautiful car ! Best of luck getting her to the way you want her. I went through a long term restoration on mine - made some mistakes along the way but no regrets.

Thanks Jeff, the city used that piece of property this year as a yard for heavy equipment and concrete culverts to redo our drainage
and put in a side walk. They scraped all the topsoil off to make an even pad for everything they used. I doubt if it will come back anytime soon.
That along with our drought it will take years. I was able to get a few pics of the bluebonnets with the 66 before I sold it as well.

Nice 70 w30.. Mine is the same color , code 58. My car is a 4 speed. I have the 256 carb in a box. I had John Herald Jr build me a 251 carb and that is what I run on the car. He built it to my gear, cam selection etc. when I rebuilt the engine I had bullet cams grind me a cam. It doesn’t have that huge overlap like the factory 328 cam. However it does have slightly more lift. It runs great, pulls like a freight train etc. best to you on your build. If I can be of any assistance reach out..love the field of flowers pic..😊
