Back seat question?

Hopefully not to stupid, I have a really nice re covered back seat out of a 71 Cutlass. That car is now gone but the seat was so nice I kept it because I planned on getting another cutlass. My question is will this seat fit in a 68 Cutlass? I'm thinking about buying one and would like to know if it would fit. Any help would be appreciated.

The seat will fit '68-'72...the only difference is it has to be the same body style...such as two door, Cutlass /442, or Supreme, or convert...each body style has a different width.

wide and narrow,,

wide about 60 in
narrow about 54 in
convert even more narrow...

the easist way to tell is...

wide seat...the rear arm rests float and are screwed to the door panel

narrow..has the vinyl covered arm rests that fill the space between the seat and the door panel..the armrests go all the way to the floor..almost look like convert arm rests

Thanks for the info. I think I understand, I know and same trim package can go into different years. So no 4 door to convert, or 2 door to 4 door or convert. But how about cutlass to supreme? in same model? Sorry if you already answered in other post. Just want to make sure I'm clear.

On a regular Cutlass, the seat goes from wall to wall, with the armrest screwed into the wall above the seat...on a Supreme (which has a similar arm rest to a convert) [without the curtesy light on the corner] the seat goes from armrest side to armrest side. It's narrower.

The Supreme seat is narrower than the Cutlass because of the convert style armrests.
