Avatar and Signature

I've been trying to put a pic under my user name and/or signature line
without success.
I've tried downloading directly from my computer and from Photobucket.
In both cases I get "Invalid file" error messages.
The file is a .jpeg and I've reduced the file size to under 140x140 pixels as required.
What am I doing wrong??!!

It doesn't need to be 140x140. It says 800x600 or under 140KB and that's for
pictures hosted on the site that you upload from your PC (option 2). Option 1 is
linking from photobucket or something and I don't think it has a size restriction.

I do see a signature picture.

Not sure what happened (), but I just noticed the pic appeared after my last try.
It decided to work for some reason after giving me the "Invalid file" message.
I really liked this photo of R.E. Olds himself driving his 1896 Pirate Special
down Ormond (Daytona) Beach at a blistering 57 MPH.
