Appraisers around the GTA Ontario area????

I am looking for a good/cheap appraiser around the GTA area to appraise my 1966 98 LS.

I need to get it appraised so I can put the Silver Wheel insurance on it & get it registered with the MTO. If anyone in the area knows of good people for this please let me know.

I asked my wife about this for you. She works in auto insurance and deals with some of these guys from time to time.
Here are two she sent me:

Thanks to everyone for forwarding the contact info.

I was considering Redline Appraisals as I am in the Burlington area & the car will be shortly as well.

Do you remember what he charged roughly???

I think it was around $150.00 but I really can't remember. (old age starting to set in)
I will call him and find out what he charges.
He lives very close to me and my wife used to drive his kids to school every morning.

before you go to any car appraiser,be sure to ask them what they base the value on.

is it prior sales, condition,or just picking a number out of the sky?

99% of the so called "appraisers" out there dont know what a real appraisal is.

I just need an appraisal so I can get insurance & get it registered. The bloody government wants all cars over 20 years to be appraised so they can make sure they get their fair share of tax.

I know its not going to be worth that much. I just want to be able to drive it & enjoy it.

The appaisal for the MTO to pay the tax can be done at most used car lots for about $30.00. You need to pay the tax on the the higher of the two numbers. (the appraised value and the bill of sale).
It's a bit of a scam if you ask me.

The insurance company will need a more detailed appraisal with pictures, a detailed description of the vehicle and it's condition as well as documentation to back up the appraised value of the vehicle.

Henry Colyn from Redline has been buying / selling and restoring classic cars for over 20 years so he had a good understanding of the values of these vehicles.

Silver Wheels

If you find an appraiser then check with Silver Wheels to see if they accept appraisals from that person. I know that in my area there are only a few appraisers that they will accept.

Thats actually a VERY good idea. I will do that. No point paying for an appraisal if they won't accept it.

When I needed my car appraised for insurance I called Lant Ins. who is the agent here for silver wheels and they gave me a name of someone in my area that they accept. As far as the MTO appraisal I took it to a used car lot and they appraised it for $40.

You could also contact your local Oldsmobile club to see if they have any good leads on appraisers in your area.

When I registered my (out of province) '66 Delta, I just showed the bureau my bill of sale and I paid tax on the purchase price. Same with the insurance, it's insured (rather low now that I just sunk 3K into the engine) for the purchase price.

I guess, I should get it appraised now that I'm actually doing work on it.
