Question Anyone Ever Driven A Shelby Series I?

I've always liked the looks of them. I was lurking over on a Shelby site and it seems they are underappreciated in that world, including references to being worried about the Oldsmobile engine. The published stats with that Aurora V8 were always great, so I don't get that part. Anyone got any first hand experience with this one? Would a car like that be welcome at an Oldsmobile event? Doesn't seem like the Shelby folks want it around much.

The only reason it wouldn't be appreciated is because it smokes damn
near any other Shelby Ford powered tank out there.

I was wondering what car Chris Klein drove in Rollerball drove....now I know.

I drove one a few years back. I must say I wasn't at all impressed. The car felt VERY cheap and unrefined. Squeeks and cracks over ever bump and the suspension feels like they used a couple of rubber pucks instead of springs. Not nearly good enough for the price they are asking.

Driven one? Heck, I've never even seen one in person.

I wonder if you could make a kit car of the Shelby Series 1 the same way people do kit cars of the Shelby Cobra?

We plan to have one on display at the Olds Nationals this year, courtesy of George Berejik.
