It was picked up in a ditch... translation - It was in a ditch 8 feet under water.
Must have been running at that time... translation - Someone blew the engine and pushed into the ditch with 8 feet of water back in 1984.
You haul... translation - car hasn't moved in 30 years, the brakes and bearings are locked from being in 8 feet of water. Good luck moving it!
Have no key... translation - car was stolen, theif blew the engine and pushed it into the ditch with 8 feet of water back in 1984.
I do not sell parts, please don't ask... translation - There isn't even 1 part on this car worth saving.
I apologize for the sarcasm, I just get a kick out of some the Ads I see.
Actually if the wheels are 15 inch bolt on centers, they're worth about $100 bucks a piece to someone. If you live in Pekin, Ill., pull the wheels on your way to the scrap yard and you might be able to come out ahead.

Think about it with a little bit of work it can be a real piece of crap lol. Jokes aside this would actually make a great circle track car. Gut it and stick a running 350 or 455 in it and go roundy round. I have always wanted to build a circle track car just for fun like a spectator class.

I think one the biggest problems he's going to have selling this car is that he provided crystal clear, large, high resolution photographs of it.
He'd have been better off putting only 2 photos that were tiny. grainey and hard to make out what you're looking at! Then maybe someone might take a chance with it!

I think there might be a different reaction to this on a G Body forum. I see a lot of usable parts on that car. IMO you could make your 500.00 back pretty easy and then some. It was 20 years old when it was declared junk according to salvage.
It's a good day in my world.....I just found this car on a search and am seriously thinking of it for the motor/trans http://edmonton.kijiji.ca/c-cars-veh...AdIdZ341251762

Yah, I'm not a big fan of them either...All 455's are 'pigs' though in terms of fuel consumption though. I don't really care because it's not going to be a dd. I'm putting tall gears in the diff and I've always wanted a 455/400 combo. I'll check and see if there are some better ones closer by.

You're right about the gas though. I had a 455 in my 73 Custom Cruiser, but that was a big heavy car. (73 only had 225 hp) It was not terrible on gas, but it would likely be a dead heat between it and a thirsty cow in the middle of a desert. Keep in mind that if I do go 455, gas won't be an issue any more than it is right now.

And, yes, as far as I know, all of the internals should be fine for what you need - I expect you'll be boring it and replacing pistons, cam, and lifters, maybe a bit of other machine work, if indicated, and the usual changes or tuning of the carb, etc.
Should serve as an excellent base to start from.

As for the rest, you're pretty much on the money about the replacement stuff. Thinking of roller rockers and lifters. Don't know if that will allow me to still use OEM valve covers. Maybe have to go with thicker gaskets.....

My 74 Omega had no cat from the factory. And that low comp.ratio really saves the engine. Also for scrap the car is probably worth $500.Maybe the guy would rather try to sell it before he scraps it.You know finally realized he was never going to fix it up himself and would rather see go for parts than scrap it.
