Another Matching Number 1967-442

Sorry I don't know how to post E-Bay ad, but fellow is claiming Rare Numbers Matching 1967-442. Problem is it has a D block 425 and no 5V on Lansing trim tag also car looks to be white in color but trim tag has Y-Y. Buyer Beware because of all the disclaimers made by seller at bottom of ad.

Car doesn't look too bad, but the seller is another story. One of those paranoid nimrods who assume the whole world's out to screw them over.

I'd give it a miss rather than deal with a guy like that.

Flippy McFlipperson can't spell, either. What's a "tearm". Spell check is not new.

Hmmm the trim tag looks suspect, no 5V not even a 5Y nothing about the trans 2L for 4speed. Its like the trim tag was wiped. Basically the car looks legit from what can be seen but the way the ad is composed one would need to be wary also.

A Lansing-built 442 would have the 5V, and the 425 block isn't original either. Of course, the fact that there aren't any numbers that "match" on this car should have been the first clue...

The placement of this fender emblem seems a bit off.

Apparently the seller thinks that a 338... Cutlass Supreme VIN makes this a real 442.

I have seen this 338 Vin claim before. Being that a Super Sport Chevelle has a 138 Vin they think that; 1 is Chevrolet and 3 is Oldsmobile so 338 must be a 442??

I think that's his "numbers matching" - the cowl tag "338" matches the VIN "338".

All 1967 442s were based on Cutlass Supreme models, so every 1967 442 has a 338... VIN, but not every 1967 Olds with a 338... VIN is a 442. Most were just Cutlass Supremes (like the car in the ad). Of course, this is like the clowns who lack reading comprehension skills and thus think every 442 with a Lansing VIN is a W-30. They don't understand the concept of "necessary but not sufficient."
