ST 71 = style/model year = 1971
34487: 3 = GM division = Oldsmobile, 44 = model series = 442, 87 = body type = hardtop coupe
LAN = assembly plant = Lansing, MI
224782 BDY = Fisher body number (completely unrelated to the VIN)
TR 930 = interior color and front seat type = black interior with bucket seats
26 B PNT: 26 = lower body color =Viking Blue, B = vinyl top color = Black.
12B = time build code = December (12), second week of that month (B), 1970.
A/C, stripes, wing, and scoops would all be options that wouldn't be shown on the trim tag. The car would come stock with a 3-spd manual transmission. A 4-spd manual or THM 400 transmission would be options.
Given the "44" on the cowl tag, it is a real 4-4-2.

Not all 442's came with the W25 hood or 4 speed SMT. All 442's did get a stripe package though. Only the W30's got the wide side stripe, the others got smaller side and deck lid ones. W30's also got the L77 engine, manual brakes, NO AC, dual exhaust, FE2 suspension and dual cutout bumper. The wing (deck lid spoiler) was an option (W35)

Wondered when someone would comment on 'duel'. Commonly misspelled word given the context. Always wondered if 'duel exhaust' meant one side fought the other to the death.
