AM I Greedy ?
Lets start here, I'm a car guy, 25 years as a tech and 19 years involved in the industry as a claims adjuster all my jobs except for my high school job have been in the car industry, I love cars !! I have owned many cars, the two that I considered classics were a 1957 Chevy sedan delivery which I had some fun with but never completed as far as restoration (sold it in about the same condition I purchased it )
and a 1964 Chevy Belair that I restored to about 95%
After selling the 64 Chevy I stayed dormant with the cars for several years until I retired and my 56 Olds kinda fell in to my lap.
I do LOVE MY OLDS and probably will have it till I leave this earth. now that being said I still seem to be discontent !! I want more !!
this will probably never happen unless I hit a big lotto, I barley have room for my Olds now but I still have not realized my dream car I want something with fenders preferably a 1934 Olds coupe ( I have become a Olds guy ) however I would settle for any fendered domestic car from about 1934 -1939 preferably a coupe ,those years have the styling cues that I love !!
I guess I should consider my self lucky to have what I have, My wife says I would be like Jay Leno if I could and she is correct.
I have noticed that several people here have multiple Oldsmobiles and I envy you !!
So my question am I the only one not content with just one ? are there others out there who want more than one ? how many are content with just one classic ? am I greedy or just normal for a guy that loves cars ?
Id be happy to have either of those 1934 Olds , bone stock or street rod !!

Nothing greedy about that Solly. You are like a lot of us and just love cars. If I had the money I would have probably 10-12 cars and trucks and a place to keep them all. They would all be driven monthly at least. I have a 57 Chevy 210 two door sedan that I will start on this year. I have had the car over 50 years (yeh 52 years to be exact) and have been collecting parts for 25-30 years. I still only have a wide two car garage and my Olds is in half of it. I have gotten so old I have to get it done in two years to be able to drive it a few years before I give it to my son. Fortunately my left leg is still good since it is going to be a 4-speed Muncie with a Hurst shifter. I already have those. That will be the last one I do.

I only have one Oldsmobile and I love it ,she is the Mistress of my life, I also have 3 other cars (soon to be 4) and they hit most of the other spectrums of the car hobby. I kind of like different stuff for different things I may want to do. It snows here some so I have a rock crawler FJ40, but it isn't a long range trip 4x4 or something that hauls a load) so a Durango fills that slot. My Miata is my everyday fun car but for some reason I got the hots for a BMW z car and may buy it today if the owner can find where they put the keys( some people amaze me that try to sell something in such a half assed manner). The issue I run in to is the storage thing, most of the rigs are convertibles and need cover so I have to store them 30 miles away at the farm, not coinvent for spur of the moment fun ride but I seem to get by OK....Tedd

Solly - I agree with CRUZN66, it isn't as much greed as it is a passion. I raised my kids, got them through college, worked hard, saved enough to retire, and during that time went without toys I would have loved to have had. Now, I need those toys as hobbies to occupy my days. Unfortunately, or fortunately, depending on how you look at it, I have the double whammy, cars and motorcycles. Right now 2 big cruiser bikes and my 67 442 Holiday Coupe. I'd really like to have a 70 442 Vert., so no, I don't think you're greedy, just passionate about something that brings you joy!

My story is similar to yours - a commercial adjuster for last approx 25yrs and also a life-long gearhead, most I've had at one time is 2 vehicles (most notably the period when my garage housed a '68 Charger R/T clone and a '68 Cougar XR-7). Each found new homes as I moved from place to place and I ultimately got bitten by the ragtop bug when I moved to FL, leading ultimately to the acquisition of my current '72 Cutlass which I've since built into a modestly hot street performer and view as a keeper 'til death do us part...
There are still other cars I'd like to have albeit without having to give my ragtop up and I'm not hung up about it being a greed issue as much as I am torn about the practicality. Even here in FL my ragtop only sees limited miles per year (currently less than 5k) making it an impractical investment for me to split further time and liquid retirement money between 2 classics.
Instead, I consider myself privileged to have owned the numerous classics (present car included) which have all left me with stories you just can't make up.

truth be told if the right deal came along I could possibly swing a second veh, however I just don't have the room !! my property is not large enough for a garage addition and I love my house and my neighborhood and don't see my self moving to larger digs. I like to think I earned my 56, but I just cant stop thinking about those full fendered beauties, I guess maybe I could sell my 56 to obtain my dream car but I sure would hate to see her go I WOULD RATHER HAVE BOTH !!! some say dreams keep you going !
