Yes it is .... and now it's reinforced .... I at least want to replace the spring , so it's safer but the 455 is going in hell or high water next summer , so I'm not to worried about the correct set up at this point .... as long as it works .

Here is a photo of my stock spring-in-spring setup. Sorry about the mess, this is before I rebuilt it.
Dang Allan, That is one clean carb and intake! ...but I think you missed a spot by that one valve cover bolt at the bottom of the photo...

I've been thinking about this idea of a backup spring and it is a good safety issue, but I have a question.
Which spring is the "correct" spring and which is the backup and how were you able to decide which spring to use as the safety spring? From the picture, both springs seem to have tension on them,was it difficult to get each to work in unison?
