Aftermarket kick panels for speakers

I'm not sure if this post belongs here or not but I just got some kick panels with a speaker hole in it for 6 1/2" speakers. Well wouldn't you know that the hole is in the same spot as the bump out or thick area in the kick panel area.
Just a word of caution if someone plans to install these things besides being made from cheap plastic, they are useless. They don't make speakers 1 1/4" deep. I'll have to build up the area in the panel.

What brand did you buy? I have the Custom Autosound kick panels in my car and didn't have any issues with installation or speaker fitment, but then again I have a '71.

I got them from OPG but they're from Vintage Car Audio. The passenger side is a little better but not by much. I already mounted a speaker in one and drilled holes so no returning. I'll make it work some how.

On my 66 I bought a 5.5" whole saw and drilled holes in the car. Then I glued some mounting rings on with panel bond. Haven't had time to figure out the kick panel part was am planning on just cutting a hole to fit around the speaker. I used these speaker baffles to keep the speakers from getting wet.

I'm going to avoid cutting, yes it would work but the area is double thick maybe for strength or something. Custom Autosound has panels with speakers mounted up high where there is an recessed area but I have speakers already. I'll figure something out and post what I do. I've got 6 x 9's in boxes secured on the back seat, wasn't going to do anything to the rear package tray. Got a 100 watt amp under the passenger seat and mounted the stereo/CD system in a universal mounting holder under the dash. Sounds great just before I start the car then, well thats another story. Gotta have tunes though.

I picked mine up from OPGI and they were literally plug and play. Given, they are not massive, rattle the windows loud, but the sound quality is great.
