Question Advice on Wheels

I am trying to decide on rims for the Cutlass. I really like the look of the classic cragar SS's or the Wheel Vintiques 03 Series Comet Wheels. Problem is that both have the uni-lug bolt pattern that require washers. From what I have read the uni-lug is not the best set up.
I also like the Jegs Sport Mags and the Cragar Polished 500 series eliminator wheels.
I am not so sure how the jegs will look on the car and the 500 series have a +4 Offset(not sure if that will fit without issue).

Tires being used are 245-60-15 BFGR R/TA's

Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated.

Thanks, Joe

I like the Cragar 500 series. Might want to drop a little color in the center of the spokes too.

Gotta agree on the Cragar 500's....plenty of "vintage" look to them with hints of the old Hurst wheels as well as Radirs. Sorry, can't contribute any technical info but we're not through drooling yet so bare with us

As Cameo points out.....the inset in each spoke opens up a huge number of options in terms of leaving them "as is", you could beadblast that area, or paint the insets in a massive number of colors/shades...possibilities are pretty much endless.

You could even paint or beadblast the sides of the spokes if you were trying to get the Hurst Wheel look.

Thanks to those that responded. Can someone confirm in the eliminator series 500 will fit without issue with 245-60-15 tires on them? I was not sure and won't consider if they are going to have clearance or rubbing issues.

Yes, I do also feel the 500's are the best looking out of your options.

I don't see why they wouldn't fit.
I have 285/40/18's on my rear and 245/40/17's up front.
Just have to get the right backspacing.

One thing to REALLY keep in mind here, is whether you want to go with bigger brakes in the future.
If you do, 15" rims will really put a stranglehold on those plans. So figure your brakes out before
you buy new rims. Just my .02

Our cars can't compete with modern cars braking on the road. Plus 90% of people out there
upgrade the crap out of their engines, but do nothing to the brakes. There's a reason the ZR1
Corvette has monster brakes.......more power = bigger brakes necessary. Everyone ignores brakes.
Just throwing it out there to keep in mind.

I have always like the American Racing Wheels. I have never been a big Cragar fan but I do like the 500. It just comes down to being a matter of taste since it is your car.

You can put almost any tire you want, just watch the rim width and/or offset. I like the old school 15's, lots of sidewall!!!

By the way I don't believe the American Racing wheels are any more expensive than the Cragers.

Do they have a Discount tire by you, as they have always been really helpful in bringing in multiple rims and tires and letting me experiment? Plus they will negotiate price, just do your homework.

I did not realize you could still buy the Ansen Sprint American wheels that were the ones that the original owner put on my car the day after he bought it. The vintage pictures show the car with those wheels. Maybe I should build it as a day two car........

No discount tire by me. Summit/Jegs have the cragars for $140 each. Pretty reasonable....

Thanks, I like the cragar ss as well but you can get an idea how your car would look with the Ansen Sprint from my photo.

lol!!!!!

New rims will give your car a much cooler look IMO.
They are the absolute BEST modification to the exterior of the car.

Because you can always revert if you want to sell it stock later.

Just wanted to thank everyone for their input. I think I am going with the Polished Aluminum Eliminator 500 Cragars. I like the fact they are one piece, conical lug, and no clear coat on them. Now to see if I can find a coupon code for summit or jegs....

You're in snow country......
Why would you NOT want the clear coat ??

I have aftermarket polished aluminum rims and I f'n HATE THEM because of
all the annual buffing and polishing I have to do. I'm going to put some POR-15
clear coat on them this year to seal them or PC the centers black!!!!

I have seen many clear coat rims become a milky mottled peeling diaster from salt nation. You are right though, annual polishing may make it worth while going for the chrome
