Is that the correct decal on the air cleaner? I believe that Olds stopped putting "Rocket" on the decal after 1974. For '75 and '76, the 455 engine air cleaner decal said only "Oldsmobile 455."
Car looks nice, though. How many miles on it? What are you asking for it?

the decal may be incorrect for the year, I liked it so I put it on. It was a mess under there when I got it. I did extensive work to it when I got it. All better now. It's got 114,000 on it, probably gonna ask $8k and go from there.

Jeffrey,
Bummer to do all that work and then have to ditch the car. Nice shots all the way around. Cool - 50 miles per hour and a reasonably steady hand to take pictures of your hairy legs. And now the raging controversial question, is the tank 1/2 full or 1/2 empty??? I had a 73 Custom Cruiser with pretty much the same load as your 76. (Mine also came in it's original packing box - ha ha woodgrain side panels and trim) When the tank said 1/2 full, I started looking for a filling station cause the lower end went pretty fast. The top end wouldn't even budge off full until I went around 100 miles. Wierd tank design probably.
It was an awesome boat to maneuver around the docks. Parking spaces weren't made for those cars. But the open road was. It was a dream on the highway, but it was hard on gas - 12 to 15 mpg at 60 miles per hour. How's yours on passing power? I found the weight of the car (around 3+ tons - no crap - for those who never drove one of these) kind of kept it from leaping when I mashed the go juice. Hope it doesn't come down to deciding on the Toro or Delta. Your fleet is impressive and obviously in good hands Cap'n. But if it's gotta go, we'll do the 21 gun salute for ya.
My CC looked just like this one only mine a 73 and was more gold. Lots of car to wash, polish, vacuum etc. Think of all the fun I could have with my new Ulitmate cloth cleaning that baby!

hey Allan, I know it sucks, but I am trying to face reality. The gas gauge is as you describe, my other 2 as well, but when I take off in those the needle heads south, the wagon does the opposite. It runs great, has plenty of power. I am jsut in shock at what is happening, just found out yesterday.
The wagon really is nice, I don't mind if it does not sell. I will be ok, just seems like the sane thing to do.

Hope some good luck finds you and turns the tables around on the + side for you Jeff. So far I'm lucky that hasn't happened. Keep us posted on what's happening. Sometimes taking the sane route is also the painful side of life...hang in there buddy.
