74 vacuum canister

Hi all my 74 Olds 350 I bought I've been smelling gas in my garage I looked around could not see anything took the air cleaner off and see there a vac fitting nothing on it I notice my vac cannister has a line from tank and one marked carb it wasn't hooked up so I hooked it up to the one vac on the carb manifold vac the carb a Quick Fuel Slayer I think Holley make them but since I hooked it up it runs like crap I turned the idle up and it's better but still a little rough and to rich I'm trying to find instructions on this they have 4 adjustable air and fuel screws ,I still smell gas my ? Should the line marked carb from cannister go to full or timed vac
The car rides good no stumble or hesitation at all but it's really rich
Thank Steve
