My .02 cents, if it’s even worth that. The motor is not it original so I would add the buckets and dual gate and whatever other options you have. If the paint is nice leave it or paint t it what ever color you like. Astro blue is a beautiful color, but myself I would go with SSII’s for the wheels. All this is all if you plan on keeping it. If you are going to sell it, sell it as is. Any other pictures?
Depends on what you want. If this is a Cutlass (3F87 VIN) as opposed to a Cutlass S (3G87 VIN), then buckets were not factory available. Naturally the console and Dual Gate were also not available on the Cutlass, only on the Cutlass S (no, not even with the W30 option). Your call on whether that matters to you or not. It's a real W30. Of course, the wing wasn't available in 1972 either.
If it's not a numbers matching car, I think the heads, intake, and carb are worth less. The most money would be from correct paint, parts, and go fast options. The easiest money would be resell as is. It's probably as fast now as it will ever be, so it can be fun as is, if you're looking for enjoyment. Whichever of those you want is your answer.
Obviously not an original color car anymore. No offense but why oh why can't people get stripes right. Honestly I love the colors. That car would sell in a heartbeat right now. Oldsmobile is the new It car.
I get your dilemma. You have to answer that yourself pretty much. Do you want to keep it and do what you want and deal with looking at a car with stripes that are off and a spoiler that wasn't factory. If you are good with that make it yours. The colors look so good together. What color is that do you know? Build it your way if you keep it.
I am also with hurst68olds. Four speed bench seat car is very cool.

This should have Ga heads correct? If so, I would absolutely put correct heads on. Not like paying for D, F, or H heads. With correct heads, what are your thoughts on a reproduction vs. an original intake?
The maroon with gold is quite stunning! Never seen this combination before. The bench/column shift adds intrigue. Stirs up the nay-sayers. I love originality but this car looks bitchin'.
I think you all are kind of missing my point. Putting effort and money into installing "correct" parts then converting to buckets and dual gate that aren't correct and weren't even a factory option on a 3F87 base Cutlass model seems like a waste. Personally I'd paint the car if only to fix the "Stevie Wonder-applied" stripes. Bench with a four speed is always cool.
Put the correct parts on that you own, leave it a bench seat as delivered, drop in the 4 speed , then drive it like ya stole it or sell it..make yourself a few coins cuz I know you bought it right.. I see no body pictures so cannot tell what paint looks like..if its decent buff it out. How is the rust on the car?
Vader, this is a bit of a tough one. A 72 W30 is an incredibly special vehicle. But yours is missing the ingredients that make it incredible special. Mod it if you are going to keep it. Otherwise sell it as is before more damage is done.
One person's vision of an awesome car is seldom someone else's vision when it comes to modifications.

That's because people settle for less. Anyone truly looking for a 1966-1972 W30 will always want it with original power train, first and foremost.

That's the beauty of this site. It truly holds your feet to the fire. There is only one correct original meticulous Oldsmobile. That's what leaves the factory. Even if factory build issues are present it's still correct. Correcting said issues is irrelevant, but upholding originality is.
That's not to say your car isn't gorgeous, because it is. But best not to have a half *** assessment on reality. It hurts all Olds enthusiasts in the long run.
