72 U code supreme
72 U code supreme
I did not know the 455 was available in the 72 supreme. this is a U code 455 car with the original engine and transmission. I picked it up yesterday and got it running today. Has some great parts on it but the body is completely shot. There are LARGE sections of bondo that are about to fall out. I think the hood is good but that is the only body part good. now that it is running and driving i don't want to part it out but this thing is not worth saving. I think i will list it local and see if some kid would want to buy it and play with it. Has lots of performance parts on it. The notched valve covers look perfect. I think i am going to pull them and save them for my W-30.

Great score! I am partial to '72 U code Supremes
They are quite scarce for sure with somewhere around 3100 or so Supremes built with L75 U code and I believe this # includes 4 dr, 2 dr and convertibles. Roughly 2 1/2%

Sounds like a cool car, too bad the body can't be saved
Last summer I looked at a U code Supreme that a little rust but not too bad. Buckets and console, 4 row radiator were the options I remember. The downside was when the motor started smoking the owner purchased a rebuilt short block instead of going through the factory motor. So the car had the notch covers, W/Z manifolds, etc. etc. but the vin in the block wasn't correct anymore. I don't know how much more valuable these are than 350 Supremes, but its sure to add some. I trust the passenger side is a complete disaster because the pic shown is not all that bad, in my opinion. I realize the pic is from about 10' away but I don't see any gaping holes
Good luck with the car. I like the color combo (silver/black top/dark saddle).

Passenger side looks just like this. The holes are hidden by expanding hole filler and buckets of bondo. There is a section about 2 foot X 1 foot that is almost ready to fall off onto the road. I just found 3 body mount bolts that broke and shook out of the frame. There is not one body panel that can be saved from top to bottom. The pictures are deceiving. I have a couple more parts i am going to swap out on it then i will list it locally for $2000. Maybe a kid will want to drag race it as a first drag car. I have about 25 miles on it and the engine and transmission are VERY strong. Runs great.
Meet me at Chattanooga and pay my gas and a night stay and it is yours, lol. I am ALWAYS looking for a reason to visit the mountain areas.
