Interested. But not sure what price. If they're used probably less $ than new. Saw new ones on evilbay for 110.00 / set of repros. Also saw a complete set (tested to work) for 40.00. Pretty big range.

What makes these special for 72 only? I've never seen 72 only. All I've seen is T3 for up to 71. ????

From what I've read, T-3's were used through 1973, but the last version, the '72-'73 version, is not reproduced. Apparently the 1961-'67 version and the '68-'71 versions are available as reproductions from Fusick. They charge $64 for a hi-beam/lo-beam set, so to fully outfit a car with four-headlight system costs $128. I would think that if your T-3s are in good working order, they could be worth at least given that they're originals.

i was told that with not having reproductions of these i could get $100 to $175 for them on EBay. i did not know if he knew or was just talking. with them being used i would never buy them for that much but that is just me. the first set i got, i had collected for my 72 W-30 with 16,000 miles. i figured that i would never drive it enough to need them but collected them when i found them just in case. now the W-30 is gone so i do not need them. if they will bring that much on EBay i may try it. i figure the only people that will want them will be for there trailer queen.

I think what you were told is correct. But you need to find that someone, as you say, who is looking to make that last detail correct on their car, and given that the last version of the T-3s are apparently not reproduced makes any that are out there all the more valuable.

But I agree with you that I would not pay that much just to put headlights on my car. I needed new lo-beams for my '67 Delta 88, and I bought modern Sylvanias from the local Carquest store for about $8 each. Hard to beat that!

Anyone know how to tell the difference between a reproduction T-3 and an original? My car has one T-3 headlight.

This is what I do, I have a couple of old dirtbikes that I have picked up I know that parts are hard to get for them, instead of putting a big dollar amount on them to start I set my price low and let everyone tell me what thier worth somethings go for allot more than I thought and sometimes they don't sell at all.

As long as they still work! In fact it's always struck me as a bit unfortunate that we can't repair failed headlights. It seems like pretty much every other thing on a car can be rebuilt. I understand that they're sealed and that that requires a vacuum process during manufacturing that can't be easily duplicated at the corner garage.

They may not be repairable if bad, but they all still work! I am amazed at how long they do last. In all my cars, I rarely replace headlights. I see so many much newer cars with all different bulbs burned out.

The only reason I replaced Lady's T3s is that I do drive the car at night and want to be able to see well for safety. In fact the new halogen bulbs seem to perform as well or better than the headlights in the 97 Caddy...
They attract bugs well, too...

Her T3's are boxed up in the garage should she ever want to compete in a big show. However, since she is a clone, I doubt that will happen.
They might become an investment before then...

with me having two sets i figure that i should sell one set just in case they decide to make repops. if they start to make re pops then mine will not be worth much. i may try EBay ad see what happens. if they sell cheep that is fine but just like to see what happens.

Most likely the cut patterns in the glass. I saw a comparison chart awhile back showing closeups of lights from different years. Too bad I cannot remember it's location...

The location of the triangle T-3 insignia is different in 72. I believe it was moved down toward the bottom of the lens, whereas on the earlier models it was in the center.

There is generally a set of NOS T-3's for 72 on ebay all the time, but I don't remember the price.

Wow! This is very interesting. I think I have one T-3 headlight on the prettiest one, but I'm not sure. I'll be looking when I get home, now! When I needed a headlight, I just went to NAPA and bought one... I didn't think it mattered what kind. I just want to see in the dark!

Yep - I knew I saw these charts somewhere.
Now to dig out Lady's old eyes and see which they are!

evilbay

You can also set a minumum price for sale if you put them on e-bay so if they don't sell you won't "give" them away. Mention that they are original and not repos.

i would set a low opening bid. i just want to see what happens. i don't have to get rich, just want to see what happens. if someone here has a trailer queen and wants them i would sell them here for a better deal but don't want someone to buy them just to make a buck off my parts. i hate when that happens. if the part is to be sold at a premium then i want the premium.

Last night I bought a set of 4 T3s on ebay for 40.00 Shipping was 17 and change. Not bad. Hope you get more, but just giving you some feedback in regards to your plan. When they get here, I'm going to compare them to your chart. Thanks for posting it by the way.

Good luck on your auction!

T-3s (at least the originals) are famous for not being very bright by today's standards, and I agree with you that seeing at night is the most important thing. You can buy headlights at the local NAPA or Autozone that will fit your car that are halogen, which is something that wasn't available back when our cars were new and which having on your car will certainly cost you points at the next car show. But at least you'll be able see on your way home FROM the car show!

I checked her lights tonight - 2 say Wagner, 1 is General Electric, and 1 says Guide down at the bottom with like half circle things in the center of it! I guess I'm all mis- matched, but I can see!!
