72 Cutlass w/350

So the wife & I will be getting the headers & dual exhaust this year (provided income tax cooperates). One question though, when we take the manifolds off, do we need to add a heat shield to the right (passenger) motor mount? The left side still has the original heat shield, is that good enough when putting on headers?

John, did you buy the headers yet?
I have a set of Hedman's (not shorty's) in the shed that have never been installed, complete with all the hardware. I'll give you a smokin deal on them. No, they're not ceramic coated, but they are for 350 SBO. Was supposed to go in mine till I changed my mind. Bought em at JB's. Still have the original bill.

The motor mounts will be fine without a heat shield.

Ok thanks. How about the starter motor? Whats the word on it getting too hot next to the header?

I ended up putting a mini starter on mine and wrapping the headers with header tape. I also have over sized battery cables. It will still crank a little slow after getting hot on a 100 degree summer day. If you can shield the starter from the headers I'd do it.
