72 Cutlass S OEM mirror

Hey all,

we are reassembling my 72 Cutlass S and I am putting back on my OEM drivers door mirror (it is not the sport mirror but instead the granny mirror operated by the manual switch inside the drivers door).

Does anyone have any advice on how it goes back on?

It looks to have 2 carriage type bolts that screw in from inside the door and will probably involve a few hours of cussing.

is there a trick to how it goes on and does it slide on and then we tighten the bolts? The assemly manual shows nothing that I can see.

Help!!!!!!!!

Also, how does one tighten these carriage bolts?

If it is the one I'm thinking of. You will have to take off the inside of the door. You put it on and slide back. Then using an allen wrench tighten the posts. Do not forget to run the cable for moving the mirror into the clips in front of the door so the window will go up and down. I for got the first time and had to disassemble the door again. The taking apart and putting the door back together takes the most time. The mirror about 2 mins. I also believe that only one of the bolts will need to be tightened.
