72 cutlass with no emblems on the front fenders?

I recently purchased a 72 cutlass . Love the car ,but things aren't always what they appear. 71 bezels and buckets that was a bench doesn't bother me at all, but I never seen a cutlass without emblems on the fenders . Anyone ever encounter this ? I have a hunch that they were removed or lost before the repaint and they simply filled in the holes before painting. What say you fine Olds gurus?

Mine has no emblems for the reason you suggest, removed and never reinstalled at paint. You can reinstall yours but the fender will need to be loosened up and holes cleared or drilled. You can buy repros or good used ones

Either the holes were filled before a repaint or they were replacement fenders.

Back in the mid-90s I bought a couple of NOS GM fenders for my car and they weren't drilled for the emblems. I suppose this was to allow for use on the various models as each had a different emblem: Cutlass, F-85, 442.

I did not know about the aftermarket fenders. I will check harder for signs of holes. If possible I will get some aftermarket emblems and install them. Right now I'm just trying to sort out the things that are oem and the things that are not like front buckets that came from a 70 gto. At least they put matching rear seat covers on.

The seat frames and cushions are the same olds and Pontiac the seat covers are what's different, you can install 72 S covers.

Thanks Retro. I thought they might be. It took me a while to figure out what it was . I would like to return them to Olds seat covers at some point. I am glad the internal are the same . New seat covers are an easy fix. I am sure finding replacement buckets wouldn't be cheap.
