72 Cutlass Headlight Bezel Restoration DIY

My 72 was changed to 71 headlight bezels at some point. The black bezels on the 72s and have always been one of my favorite features.

Not wanting to spend $150 on reproductions I ordered a used set for $30.

Krylon Fusion textured black and a decocolor premium chisel tip paint pen we’re all I used.

Washed them with dish soap and let them air dry then wiped them down with alcohol before paint.

Laid down 3-4 layers of the krylon to cover some pitting. Ended up being an easy job after I realized the paint pen would be much easier than taping off and spraying silver parts.

Nice job. I did a similar project a few years back. My Cutlass had 71 bezels and I ended up spraying the whole bezel in black then carefully using scotch rite with even pressure to get a uniform ring around the bezels like the originals.
