What r the differences externally between a 71 & 72 Cutlass post coupes? Different colored grills and tail lights, but anything else?

 

Different color headlight bezels? Body side molding? Trunk OLDSMOBILE script trunk edge molding chrome on 71s? Rocker panel chrome on 72's usually differs from 71 if 71 has any at all.

Only differences I see between the 1971 and 1972 Oldsmobile Illustrated Facts and Feature Manuals are the 72 rocker panel chrome and 71 OLDSMOBILE script trunk edge molding. Aside from what you mentioned: 72 Bezels are blacked out of course. Grilles are entirely different but will interchange. Taillights are different but will interchange. One other minor difference neither of us has mentioned is the stone shield rocket emblem which can easily be changed. I have the 71 and 72 Illustrated facts and feature manuals with photos but don't have them uploaded to the net. Also the hood eyebrow moldings to match whichever years are being used. I don't think 71 has the S emblem on the fender near the Cutlass script like the 72.

 

the hood leading edge molding is different one has a raised center feature the other has a raised edge feature, you may never notice it unless you put 71 hood molding on your 72, even then its a small detail and most might not catch it.
