71 442 trunk light

Hi guys,
I purchased a trunk light for my 71 442 and need help on where to install it. I looked for pictures but they are hard to find, in fact I haven't found any. The light came "clipped" to a metal bracket with screw holes, but it doesn't fit anywhere with the bracket. If I removed the bracket and use the clips to install it, (see pics) it works ok. Is this correct, or do I need the bracket? Also, is there a wireing harnes that is used for the light, and where does or plug into? Thanks in advanced for the help.

You do have that part of it mounted correctly. there is a single orange wire with a connector that attaches to it. it comes from the wiring harness in the trunk toward the back. I will send u a picture of it shortly.

Due to differences in the trunk hinge area, Cutlass "S"/442 fastbacks don't require the bracket, only Supremes need to use it. I had the same question when I bought my 442 and couldn't figure out how to mount the light.

Thanks for the info guys. I'll have to look a little harder for that wire. I think I have that flat plug, does the wire lo from there?
