Beautiful car! I like red, especially red with a white interior. But one of my buddies calls it re-sell red as so many local cars have fresh red paint jobs on them when they're offered for sale

Not wanting to come across as a jerk, but it looks like they have the notched valve covers on backwards.

Does not mention about numbers matching or any documentation proving that it is a W-30...... buyer beware!

 

Claimed to have a ton of doc. Had a display board/case with all kinds of photos, doc copies, toys, & other brick-a-brack in it.

Must've worked as it pulled big money ($187K). I looked this car over. While very nice, it seems like this is one of those cases where the doc was worth more than the correctness of the resto.

Wrong fenders, valve covers on wrong sides... just a few things that stood out to me. Seemed Dana ran the price up at the end??? I could be wrong though, but it wouldn't be the first time.

 

$187K with repro inner fenders and the other stuff noted (not to mention the low-perf cam that comes with A/C), and the real 1969 H/O goes for $53K? What's wrong with this picture?

Wow, that might be the nicest Jetfire on the planet. Still don't know if I'd lay oot 50 Large for it.


G-Body prices have been really strong.

 

I have resolved to not watch some of these auctions anymore. Some cars clearly come across the block as incorrect and fetch way too much money while other more deserving cars don't get a double glance. I think this thread says it all

 

Yes, lots of little things could have been done "correctly" but over all still a very nice car. I understand the dynamics of these values but still think its crazy. Especially when you see a '66 tri carb 4 speed going for 182.5k less

 

The thing that gets me is the prices of those resto-mods and also the old Blazers/Broncos. Never would have thought those would get the kind of money they do.

A 1970 GMC crew cab is probably more rare than a 1970 W-30.

 

It was a nice car but had some things that some people would not like. 5 lug disc brake conversion, 62 heads, 63 Cutlass block, Chrome was a little better than driver quality, Interior was nice but the paint on the interior could used freshened up. Aftermarket shifter but that is a plus in most 4 speed Jetfire owners eyes. I did not expect it to go that high but they have been climbing in price for nicer ones with working turbos. I am seriously thinking about restoring my 4 speed car and every time one sells it makes me want to even more.

 

Blazers and Broncos seem to be hot for the past year. I could be wrong but I would not think this one would last long.

 

As a big fan of early SUVs, I've seen it going on for several year now, and I honestly don't know where the ceiling is. Even 73-74 Blazers get advertised for crazy money.
Of course I sold my 70 Blazer ages ago.
It's happening with Scouts too. I sold a nice 78 rallye that I absolutely loved back in 2006. I'd estimate it worth 3X now.

 

Slightly off topic: my wife's grandpap has a GMC pickup "Beau James" edition but it is currently not assembled. I heard about a year ago that he was considering selling it to a friend of the family, but would only give him the title once he completed the truck. Needless to say, the sale didn't happen.

I had to laugh at that one. Funny but not I suppose. He is a great guy though, he just really wants to see his old truck put back together. Can't blame him I guess.

 

The '86 442 has only 1,600 miles and is museum-bound.

The '69 H/O did not have the original 455 and had some other incorrect pieces under the hood, so that didn't do it any favors.
