I’m guessing that there is a reserve - wonder what that is.

(On a side note, this website's software will, if you post in ALL CAPS, turn your post into all lowercase. Should you wish to be dramatic (and silly) like above, you need one letter to be lowercase to avoid that. This is your PSA for today.)

I noticed in the Rocket Report it was noted that the car had a 3 row radiator. Didn't most Olds 442's come with a 4 row?

RocketDevo the resident expert on radiators or others will chime in probably, but the way I read the Rocket Report the radiator is just one more thing that is not original to the car. The original V02, 3 core radiator has been replaced with a V01, 4 core radiator.

A no a/c, 3:42 rear end car would present with a V02 radiator originally, if i'm not wrong.

Edit: The Rocket Report is in error regarding the radiator on this automobile (not a V01). Minore states the correct radiator in his Opinion Letter (3-core or V02).

These cars prices are just stupid. 85 grand for a car that needs a repaint just for starters. No thank you. Fool and their money...💸

My 70 442 non air automatic car came with a three row and a fixed non clutch fan.

BJ is a no reserve auction. Seller takes the risk and accepts the hammer price less seller fees. Sometimes the seller makes it big, sometimes he does not get his price.

Auction Houses = Puke 🤮

Used to be that auction houses cared. Now you can send whatever the he 🏒🏒 you want thru them. They all say Oh we accept no responsibility. They take the cash and do not give a ****. I have seen cars sold thru them personally. People pay serious cash. You bring it home and it is unsafe to drive. I have damn near zero faith in bj anymore. Any of them really. The whole attitude of We are just an auction house... Lame.

So you just paid 85 Grand for this car. What is your guess on how much cash you need to dump into it to make it right? "All original panels" but obviously been repainted and poorly at that. We can pick this and that from here. Imagine in person. Seriously. What would be your guess to try and make it right? The original parts are gone so there will not be those.

Plus the buyer and seller each pay eight (8%) or ten (10%) commission in addition to the hammer price to Barrett Jackson.

I have seen BJ (get it?)auctions with reserves. Many times. Unless that is new rule.

I still stick to my guns. 85k for a car that needs a complete restoration is crazy.

BJ does offer a reserve sale for their "Salon cars" . These are usually typically $1M plus examples. All cars in Houston were no reserve.

Barrett Jackson and other reputable auctioneers carry large liability policies, high deductibles and are subject to compensation for claims. They can't contract out their liability.
Why not congratulate the buyers and sellers?
Finally, you were wrong about Barrett Jackson's reserve policy.

Congrats on a potentially very rare car, Steve Minore may not have verified it 100% but his reporting appears to be on the side of giving it a cautious nod fir authenticity. Its a nice nice car. For the flippers it will not pass the investment test. However I am sure the sellers were thinking higher sales dollars. Congratulations to the new owner.

I stayed silent on your Barrett Jackson reserve "many times" claim until a few minutes ago. I withheld responding. Please read post number ninety-nine (99).
Referring to *BJ (get it?)" isn't right or respectful.
Sadly, some members on our site might read and believe what you write, notwithstanding your inaccuracies.

So I know neither the eBay nor Barrett-Jackson fees, but the $80,100 top bid on eBay was a good predictor of $85,000 at B-J.

Oh trust me. You are nowhere near being my brother. I don't know what your beef is and I could care less. I meant what I said. You have heard it before. You troll me and my comments. I actually give good information and uplifting comments. You? Your comments show exactly who are. 💋

Like I said Marsha. Get a life.

Respect to all here. I have zero clue why one certain member comes at me. I laugh at internet fools. You want to troll me and comment negatively at me. You want to try and call me out for what? Seriously for what? Get a life. I will gladly let it go. I am here for cars. Not here for pansy internet chumps. I post true thoughts and positivity every chance that I get. I am a helpful person. That's what I do. Someone is butthurt. No telling why. Their issue not mine.

This car has been sold so this thread will sink to the archives.

B-J is actually a pretty good indicator of the state of the market -- not the prices, but rather whether or not they allow reserves. When the market is hot they will only accept no-reserve consignments. When things are a little more "meh" they'll allow reserves in order to attract higher quality cars. Nobody wants to risk selling their $300K Hemicuda for forty grand just because the Dow Jones had a bad day.
