70 Cutlass Convertible Seats
70 Cutlass Convertible Seats
Hello,
Does anyone know where to source a rear bench seat frame and spring kit for a 70 Olds Cutlass Convertible? I can only find the bench seat frame for a coupe. I’m also looking at buying the bucket seat frame and spring assembly from Jegs or opgi. Anyone have a recommendation or preference? Thanks in advance.

You would be much better off finding some good used ORIGINAL bucket seats for your car. The repro buckets/springs are notorious for having spring sets that are incorrectly made....they sit way too high...same thing for the replacement spring sets that are sold for original buckets.
I'm not the only person w/this opinion....I've run across this problem on the repro springs on at least 3 or 4 different GM bucket seat Abody cars now. One guy ("Rambow") that is also extremely experienced with our GM Abody interiors will tell you the exact same thing. He refused to use the repro springs (or to recommend them to others) on the jobs he did. He has posted on this site quite a bit (I think he may have mentioned this problem on this site as well) and also on many other Abody sites.
Broken springs, which you occasionally run into on even good used originals can be repaired with a few simple tools, spring clips and some new donor spring sections. Some pieces like the bucket seat side support springs are available new and they do fit and work properly (Ames Pontiac does sell pairs or sets of the proper side support springs which many buckets will have one or two broken on).
That's my advice which is based on personal experiences I have had w/the new spring sets. And no, I don't think they'll "settle in" over time......I would AVOID THEM.
