'70 cutlass convertible - color combo

I see a lot of cars that are blue (or red) with white stripes and white convertible top along with all white interior.

I am really wanting a blue/white exterior with white top, but with black interior.

Opinions of this color combo?

thanks,

Pat

Saw that combo on a Corvair once, looked real nice. Remember the boot cover should be black, to match the interior.

That is really a good looking car.

The project car I am looking at buying soon has a black interior that is in really good condition. The exterior needs body work and a full paint job so I have options there.

My favorite colors for the exterior it to be either blue and white or red and white, but already having a black interior in good shape is causing me to wonder about what exterior color I should use.

Suppose I could settle for red and black exterior but I really don't want to settle.

Has anyone ever seen a blue/white or red/white with black interior?

thanks,

Pat

What you are thinking about doing certainly falls within the GM/Olds-recommended exterior and interior color combinations for 1970. I think it would look sharp. My parents had a '62 Corvair convertible that was a maroon color with black interior and a white top. That 3-tone looked great and your proposed 3-tone would also look great!

Hi Randy,

Thanks for the reply.

I think it would look good also. My concern was that most, if not all the photos I see have a white interior with the blue/white and red/white exterior.

Just wanting to make sure that a blue/white with white top and black interior was not going to be a bad choice and get ostracized.

Hi droptopron,

I wasn't sure if that color combo was one would have been produced back in 1970.

thanks,

Pat

Hi Mike, missed your reply earlier.

The boot being black is a good point that I hadn't considered.

I was thinking it would be white to match the stripes but now that I think about it I guess the right choice is to be black to match the interior and not the stripes.

thanks,

Pat

Just out of curiosity, what was the original color combo?

Here are a couples of pics of a red, black and white 71 I used to own. Always thought it was pretty good looking. As someone else pointed out, remember that the boot will be black to match the interior.
