Does anyone know an outfit that makes or has NOS blend door cables? I checked all the usual suspects, Rock Auto, A-1, Old Air Products, even JC Whitney. My cable is sort of unique in that it has an adjuster near the heater box and plastic retainers that hold the cable to the heater box and to the heater control. There is nothing wrong with the cable, but the plastic clip retainer the control side is broken. I fabricated a little clip to press the cable to the control, but it squishes the cable a bit and makes it hard to move the lever. What do people do when they can't find cables for their old cars? Does anyone make those little plastic retainers?

P.S. I was two days into the backpacking trip many miles from nowhere and our only water purification pump broke. As we looked at the broken plastic in horror one of my friends commented that overuse of plastic will be the downfall of the human race.
