70 442 Interior Question

Brother and I were talking. Could you get a red interior in a 70 or later A body? I remember more than a few red interior 69's. Was red an option in 70?

Not in the 70-72 cars. Not sure about later years. There were some wild interiors in the latter part of the 70s.

EDIT: I should add that this only applies to Oldsmobile A-bodies. I'm not an expert on the other divisions.

Now, red WAS available in 1978 and later.

Well, it gets more interesting. Apparently 70-72 were the only years that red was NOT available.

Closest thing to red for 70-72 was 71 specific Sienna which is a reddish brown.

Yeah I was thinking more of a strong red.

So I am guessing here. No red interior for any GM A body 70-72? Feels like Pontiac was Rad enough to do it but?..

I don't think you could get red in 71 or 72 for chevelle, but you could get a red interior on a 70 chevelle.

Is that true? Not sure I have ever seen a red interior 70 Chevelle.
Hey Pontiac fan. Could you get a red interior GTO?

Both '70 Chevelles & Lemans/GTOs were available with red interiors. I don't know why Olds dropped it, maybe not many red sales in '69? I always loved the bright red interiors in the 69s, they really popped!! A while back, one those consignment dealers, Streetside or Gateway had someones' '72 Cutlass resto-mod for sale. It had a custom '70 style red Cutlass S/442 interior made by Legendary. The seats, door panels, everything was 1970 just done in red, it was sharp!! They wanted something like $125k for it!! Anyone else having problems putting pics up lately???

I was pretty sure Pontiac had red in 70 as well but I wasn't positive. As another example of why 70-72 Olds SHOULD have had red as an option:

What's interesting is that in both the 1968 and 69 dealer brochures, most of the 442 interior shots are red.

Yeah, I've always thought that was a very striking combination.

That is my 72 vista cruiser. Figured I'd share since the conversation was about red interiors.
