7 years deep and still learning...

Even after owning my '72 Supreme for 7 years, I'm still learning more about it. For example, 6 years after installing them, I just recently found out that the plastic cowl screens were actually incorrect for my car. Of course, I had to make it right. I was able to source an OEM piece from Nick (442crzy), and after a quick refresh, I'm pleased with the result.

Thanks, although I just noticed that my outboard screws are not installed in the same location on both sides. I'll have to fix that...lol. Like said, 7 years deep and still learning

Well, I just went out and double checked. Seems the holes for the screws were drilled in different locations on either of the outboard sides. The driver side is drilled right on the corner, but the passenger side is about 2" or so in from the corner. There's a dimple on corner where it looks like a hole should be, but no hole. If that's how it was done at the factory, then that's how it will be.

Now I'm worried about my cowl screens. I may not be able to sleep tonight.

I've got hex head with phillips holding that thing down on mine. They're probably wrong, although they are nice to grab with a nut driver.

I am going to guess the line blasted the screws in as self tappers on the dimples, probably holding the screen with a jig during the process so the guy missed on the OP's. I think my OEM would get pissed about such a thing today, but, that was probably ok back then on a surface not normally seen by the customer.

Fairly certain these are the wrong screws. Guess I’ll be joining the rest of the group that won’t be sleeping tonight. Perhaps we could call ourselves the ‘incorrect parts group’ 😆
