69 Hust dual gate

I've axed this question before on other boards and have received the answer [Thanks Joe]

But I'm kinda stuborn.

Has anyone ever tried to put a Hurst Dual gate in a standard 69 442 consol?

I know some fabrication will be required, I was just curious if anyone had actually tried it with any degree of success [as opposed to cutting up nice consol for no reason]

Is the problem the width of the Hurst top plate? the height of the consol/ or both plus?

This doesn't sound like one of your typical posts so I'll bite. Why the bad grammar and spelling?

Question

Jamesbo,
Why not just get a complete console/dualgate setup out of a 1970 car? I know it isn't authentic for a 69 442, but might it be an easier bolt in?

I've thought about that but for me to venture away from my 69 parts would be difficult. But I may have to

His n' Hers

What is the problem with doing it? You just need a dual gate and a junk console to experiment with, they're cheap.
My goat has a His n' Hers and the console doesn't look that much bigger than an Olds.

This guy has a goat console and shifter for sale for illustrative purposes.
Take a look at his other auctions, the Hust Hairy Olds is for sale too.

Just use a '68 GTO console, they're very nondescript and have no poncho markings.

Jamesbo,

Did you ever accomplish this? I'd like to do the same, I once saw on e-bay a 1969 console with a his and hers and it looked sharp.

Thanks

Since you ask, I know it can be done. A guy I knew when I was young, had 1 in a 66 442 console. They are pretty much the same. No details known on how.

I will be installing a Dual Gate into my 66 in about a week. I'm hoping the console can be made to fit with minimal work, this should be interesting.
