69 Cutlass rear bumper rubber fillers?

So I purchased a pair of rubber fillers from Fusick part# BF69R for the corners of the rear bumper. They are marked L & R, I can't see how these fit whether I flip them, switch sides, no matter what. They should just slip on the bumper and be done. There seems to be not enough space unless I pulled the bumper way out and then I would have gaps with the tail lights. I have looked at pics of cars online and it seems folks just leave them out. What am I missing, is it a bogus part?
thanks,
Steve

No, it's a legit part and I would say necessary for a proper restoration. Can you post pictures so we can tell if the parts you have are correct for your application?

The fillers get installed before the bumper gets put on the car. Then you push the bumper up against the body until the fillers touch the rear corners of the body.

Well, I got them installed and they look nice. I'll have to go back and check but I think they were labeled wrong as far as L & R.

thanks,
Steve
