69 442 help
The cowl below the windshield is semi-gloss black. The overspray is hidden by the fenders. When I painted it I made sure to recreate the overspray. When I bought the car it was original but needed paint and interior. I bought it in '84 from the original owner and did paint and interior right away then transmission in '87 and engine in '90. On the underside wear parts have been replaced but otherwise underside is unrestored. I figured as long as everything is clean under there I would just leave it alone cosmetically. It also has the number 53 (paint code) written in wax pencil on the firewall just off center to the passenger side.
Thanks!! That is really helpful. especially the wax pencil mark. I also found some info on the GM heritage center web cite. They have info on Olds which can be downloaded or purchased. Interestingly there is info on what is to be painted on the underbody. I assume under your hood is black. If so was there overspray on that as well?
