'69 4-4-2 W-30 At Auction?

Been watching Mecum. Just saw a supposed '69 W-30 go no sale at $35K. No mention of originality, authentication or matching numbers, but the car looked very nice -- except some idiot put stripes on the trunk.

Anybody see this or better still know the car? Just curious if it's real (with a horrible mistake made during restoration) or (more likely) a phony.

I took a look at it on Friday. Had D heads and was Lansing built with what looked like repo red wells. Was originally a vinyl top car someone had removed the vinyl but left the trim on. Looked to me like a 35K car.

Website listing says:
  • True W-30

So guess it must be.

So did '69 W-30s have Chevelle trunk stripes from the factory, or was that a bonus with the "1 quality repaint in correct Aztec Gold Metallic"?
