I don’t see very many of these around anymore, so when I visited my good friend recently I grabbed a few shots of his. He bought it in 1979 and restored it over the next few years. He drives it and enjoys it like he should! Doesn’t see many highway miles with 4.66 rear gears, but it’s sure fun up to about 95 mph!
Sharp! I dig that color. It is very close to the selection my wife made for when we are ready to paint my '68 4-4-2. The white interior contrasts nicely. And the Stripe Police are smiling
Did they put A/C oil filler tubes on W30's or was this one changed at some point?
It's been a LONG time since I remember this motor being rebuilt - right around 1983, I think. That was also the time I was swapping the 400 out of my own '68 for a 455, and I gave my buddy the old motor from my A/C car in case there were parts he could use from it. At the time, we corresponded with Bob Gerometta by MAIL, for gosh sakes, about rebuilding this motor and there were parts all over the place for months. He and I also became "advisors" for the '68 models around then (anyone have some old Journey with Olds lying around?). Anyway, it's VERY possible that the oil filler from my old 400 was installed on this engine, and I'm going to bust him for it. I never, ever noticed that!!!
