68 Cutlass Vert or clone?

I need an opinion or two. After rebuilding my numbers matching 350 2v 2sp drive train and getting needed body panels replaced by restoration pros I, as many before me, realize this ain't no 2 bit project and am starting to wonder if staying original is worth a run of the mill cutlass "S" or should I throw another 10-20 grand ( retirement money)at it and clone say a 68 Hurst Olds convertible. Provided of course I could even find the necessary drive train and accessories. It's about to go to paint so now is the time to decide.

Or maybe I just need someone to tell me to pull my head out and be happy with an original

Its a nice old car and a blank slate to do with as you see fit. Cloning an H/O at this point is not going to make your path any easier and to me no a viable option. With that said there is no reason why you couldn't up the performance and make it a cool driver.
