68 442 Edelbrock intake manifold question

Hi Guys,

Got my new engine back the other day and am adding the parts back on it. I have a performer Edelbrock intake on it. I noticed the hole for the heat/ac valve is larger than stock. The opposite side has the proper diameter.
Any ideas?

Thanks

Craig

71-2 or so and later intakes utilized the 3/4" NPT threads.
No problem, just get the fitting to match.

I have seen as small as 3/8 NPT and many 67-69 intakes are 1/2 NPT.

See the INTAKES thread here for all the gory details.

I used a pipe plug on mine (no heat) but the plumbing section of the local hardware store had a number of adapters to use to get it to the right size

I would use a hex adaptor to bush it down.

Thanks guys,

I guess I'll have to find an adapter for it. The problem is where? Nobody carries stuff like this anymore! I feel like Indiana Jones sometimes while restoring it!

My thread seems to be dead (no lookers) If you are interested in my build here is the link!

What is a hex adapter?

And what is "bush" it down?

Sorry for my ignorance

They come in brass, steel, stainless steel. You can find them at Home Depot, Loews, Fastener or Bolt and supply stores:

Napa auto parts or you might say a real auto parts store.

Easy as click and buy

Or call or text me and get the proper factory part- assuming heater w/o AC

"bush down" comes from "bushing" which is the typical name for the above part. Get a nice BRASS one for no corrosion problems. Seal it with form-a-gasket or teflon pipe dope. Tape looks tacky.

I think we need a stick on HOW TO SHOP
evidently many folks are not aware of McMaster, Grainger, etc.

Thanks, Octania,

I will shoot for a brass fitting. is there a certain "form a gasket" to get? I'll look for the pipe dope because I agree tape looks like crap!

Yeah, the world got up and changed on me! The last build I did I could still run down to an auto parts store. It takes a lot of work hunting down the parts. I like your idea of a Stick for it!

Thanks,

Craig

You can get plumbers pipe thread sealer with Teflon at any hardware store. A small bottle lasts a long time.
