Now that I know the correct P/N for a '68 442 400ci 4bbl with auto air cleaner (thanks to the good folks in this forum) is the GM P/N actually stamped anywhere on the the cleaner? If not, what what unique characteristic should I look for?

Would like to know when I am hunting the swap meets this season.

OG is silk screened in white paint on the air cleaner base. The OG air cleaner has a slightly larger snout than the OE but I'm embarrassed to say that I couldn't tell the difference without the OG on it

Ok... Thanks. Since many time guys repaint the air cleaner, it's a shame GM didn't stamp the OG or OE and part number somewhere in the base itself.

This is the silk screen you could look for on an air cleaner for a '68 4-4-2, if it hasn't be re-painted. Note that the part number is also part of the silk screening.
