670 street avenger

Hello all,

Just an advisery to everyone (dont know who knows and who doesnt) I purchased a "NEW" Holley street avenger 670 4 months ago from Summit. As of the beginning of the week the idle has been rather sporadic. So i pulled the carb off last night, i was going to jet up anyway so i figured id take a look-see. As i pulled off the Secondary bowl a TON of white chalky corrosion and Metal chunks came dumping out.........you could imagine the look on my face . I called Holley today figuring i would skip the middle-man. I talked to Shawn at Holley tech, i gave him the date code number he paused and said wait you bought this 4 months ago? I assured him i did, he then explained to me the date code was the 242nd day of 2006!!! In 2006 they had a casting issue with a manufacterer not coating the zinc parts or some other mumbo jumbo. He told me to send it back to him as soon as i can and he will send me a bran-spanking-new 670 off the shelf there in Kentucky. NO CHARGE. So just a fair warning that not everthing off the shelf is as new as you would like to think. Ill post a pic of it later

Hopefully the new "2011" model does not suck as bad. What was wierd is Shawn at Holley told me only a select few of the Street driven carbs were suseptable and that it was more of a marine carb manufacered probelm. I guess im just lucky is all
