66 throttle linkage

Ok guys since I have installed the BBO in the 66 with a performer intake and a demon carb its doesn't look like my factory linkage will work. Also have the some interference with my TV bracket and cable at back of the carb. So I'm wondering what some of you have done when installing BBO in the 66. Did you just make a custom rod or were you able to convert a cable somehow? I don't know a pedal you can swap in since the 66 pivot on the floor and not on a hanger like later years. Any tips and ideas will be helpful.

What I do is make sure the linkage runs from idle to wot. I had to bend my gas pedal linkage by pulling up on the pedal a bit for it to open the carb all the way. I'm assuming the TV cable and bracket are separate and adjustable.

My 66 has a mounting area on the firewall for a hanging peddle, unless it was just a pivot point for the linkage. In any case a peddle from a mid 70's nova bolted right up so I could run a cable throttle. My car also had a hole/mount in the firewall so I used the cable off the nova too

The cable is stretched to its limit with a street dominator intake and a 1" spacer on my sbo

I'll have to check my firewall as I'm not sure is has a spot for a hanger and cable mount but I don't remember seeing one.

There are carb mounted brackets and cable sets you can buy aftermarket for adapting anything now a days. Treat it like any other Abody. The prices range from inexpensive to hi $$$$.

Lokar makes a set up for a Chevelle of the same year that uses a cable. Of course with it you lose your transmission kick down feature as well as the Switch Pitch control if you're using the Jetaway. Of course this doesn't matter if you're running a manual trans.

I'll have to look into that one TripDeuces. It would be nice to get rid of that setup since I'm running a 700R4.

Can't you just run the stock carb linkage and the separate cable and carb mounted bracket for the 700R4?

They are seperate but the TV cable interfers with the stock linkage when trying to attach to the carb. Not to mention the spark plugs in the area because of where the linkage pivot point/switch pitch control is. I have to look at it more when I get home later.
