i was just told that my power trunk release from a 66 98 is the same as cutlass. is this correct? if so what years does it fit. i just posted one for sale but will post it if it will fit other models.

I can't say for sure what other years/models it would fit. I can say that it looks a lot like the setup in a 1968 Cutlass I used to have. It had the long rod with swivel from the lock, something that not all of these had. Although I think my car had a metal vacuum can. You might want to hold on to it until your sure and it may also help to post measurements for the mounting tabs on the brass colored vacuum release, then others could measure theirs and let you know if it's the same.
