66 442 dash

Can anyone give me any help in finding the value of a 66 442 restored dash with gauges and clock but missing tach and how hard to find a tach.
Thanks
Ken

The 66 dash did not have gauges. The base configuration was a speedometer on the left and three indicator lights for oil, gen, and temp on the right. Fuel gauge on top and automatic transmission gear selector on the bottom, both of those in little rectangular windows between the pods.

An upgrade would get you a clock in the middle of the lights on the right.

A vacuum gauge, for economy, was available in a housing if you had a console. Ealry years could, I believe, get a tach there as well.

The only tach available in 66 was a small pod mounted on the left top of the dash commonly called a "sidewinder" tach for reasons unknown to me.

A high restoration of a 66 stock dash I would think would be worth some 1500 dollars. The sidewinder tach itself is worth that in good used shape, so they are very hard to find.

In 67, option u21, rocket rallye pac, became available, and it is a total replacement for the lights pod that puts in temp, oil, and ammeter gauges, a tach, and a clock, via some amazing engineering. It could be put in a 66, but is not correct, but would look fine. Those go for ~1200 used.

Many people just put an aftermarket tach in the spot inside the lights and call it good.

U21 Rocket Rallye Pac

Console vacuum gauge

Aftermarket tach in the clock hole.

Thanks for the info the seller said it was a 66 but I didn't know for sure. How hard would it be to find a tach for this 67 dash? It is nicely restored but missing the tach.

The tach and gauges are a single unit for 1967 called the Rally Pack. You either have the whole Rally Pack or you don't. They are extremely rare and priced accordingly.

The Rally Pack was available as a late 1966 option also. At least one of the factory 54 66 W30s came with the rally pack.

You've told me that before, I was confused on whether it was late 66 or late 67 introduction, but now I am reminded.

The tach is called a sidewinder probably because it is mounted on the SIDE of the dash. See pic above.
