64 Cutlass Convertible: is it a "deal".

I just put pics in one of my albums here of a 64 Cutlas Conv I bought for $400. Not sorry I did but wonder if it was a Deal? How can I tell if the frame is beyond salvage?

Sounds like you already doubt it so I guess you are looking at rust. It is rusted through where you can see it? That would be bad. Whack it with a hammer all around the frame. It should have a nice ring to it.
Looked like a decent interior. If you part it I am interested in the shifter/console.

Terrible deal. I will come give you $400.00 back and take it off your hands. I am doing this only because I feel sorry for how bad you got taken.

We've a '65 442 'vert near O'Hare!
Good frame, bodywork done, needs engine, trans and trunk floor - interior re-do and assembly - but all there!
$3500

A little wax and some Armorall and it will be as good as new.

Parts alone in the interior pic are worth more than you paid. Maybe by just a little!

I have an order in for 55 gallons of rust converter.

All: Thanks for the moral support. I saw some pitting on the frame but nothing through where I could get at. The trunk pan is rusted badly. My 64 holiday coupe needs the T shifter but then, I'll find out Saturday if the 330 fires up. Be nice to drive it onto the trailer.
SlowOlds: I just lost two T handles on ebay. They went for $220 or so for the pair while my back was turned.

It runs! Put a boat gas tank on the hood but it runs. I'll be able to drive onto the trailer. The brakes are another matter. Tend to stick.

What are your plans? Restore or part out? I'm sure there are a number of people that can use something off that car.
Let us know, I have a list of items...... hehe
